very quick mortgage question to lovely damsels

If youre mortgage is due on the 7th of the month would you expect it to leave your bank account on the 6th or the 7th?

Ours is 'collected' on the 7th but went out this Sunday the 6th leaving me very embarrassed at the petrol station when my card was declined

I would say if its due on the 7th it should be taken out on the 7th?

mines is always taken out on the 1st..if its on a weekend, sometimes comes out on the friday before...

Was it a direct debit?
Or an internal transfer (ie you have the same account for current a/c and mortgage)?

Direct debits call for the money a few days before the actual due date and with the weekend it makes things a bit more complicated.
