Conjunctivitis - wwyd?
I've got a really nasty case of conjunctivitis (sp?) My left eye is oozing 'gunk'
and is very red and sore and half closed due to it being so swollen
(oh it looks just divine I can tell you!
)
So - with that in mind - should I go into work tomorrow? I'm thinking probably not as I know how contagious this is and I don't think they'd thank me for spreading it around. But what do you think?Last edited by Chickpea; 04-01-2008 at 08:18pm.

Re: Conjunctivitis - wwyd?
I'm going to call them in the morning and see what they'd prefer.
Although TBH it looks so unsightly I think if I did go in I'd prob scare the customers away

Re: Conjunctivitis - wwyd?
Have you got any eyedrops?
You can get them from Boots or similar, but Im pretty sure that the one your GP can prescribe is something stronger and works faster xx

Re: Conjunctivitis - wwyd?
I've got the optrex for infected eyes (nice). It's early days so I'm not sure they're working, and my eye is so full of gunk that the drops don't stay in long enough. Dreading waking up tomorrow - and finding my eye lids glued together

I know how you feel - I had it when I was about 32 weeks pregnant. Wonder if there are any natural remedies

It seems to have affected my sinuses too as my nose/sinuses are blocked on the same side of my face and my gland is up on that side too - weird!

Think you can get chloramphenicol OTC, that seems to be the best stuff.
Sol got it before Christmas and passed it on to both if us; it went, but we all keep getting reinfected so it's obviously lurking somewhere. Probably best not to risk it at work, so long as they understand the reasons behind it - some people have gone blind from it, tell them that!

Re: Conjunctivitis - wwyd?
well I've just called in sick and they were very understanding, but jeez - why is it that calling in sick makes you feel so damn guilty?!

Oh and I will text you but wondering if you fancied meeting up next week? Lottie hasn't stopped asking to see Esme since she was at yours on Wednesday!

Re: Conjunctivitis - wwyd?
It's gone into the other eye!!!
Well I went into town earlier (in dark glasses so no one would go
)
And had a chat with the pharmacist, well I took my glasses off and she immediately said "oh my god" whilst recoiling in horror. (professional or what?
)
She reckons that I should see an out of hours doctor or go to A+E. I er...haven't done so (partly b'cos I'm so flippin' tired I just got home and went to bed) but if it's worse tomorrow then I'll definitely go.
L - would love to see you next week, depending on how the eyes are (it's so contagious I'd hate for you or L to get it)
