Thread: Night lights

    Night lights

A has developed a sudden fear of the dark and of her bedroom door being closed (the latter even moreso, which is a pain as we have to tiptoe around!).

Is a nightlight a good idea - and if so does anybody have any recs?

Ethan is also goingthrough this stage too, we bought a string little car lights for his room, which seems to help with regards to the dark but we still have to leave his door open

I bought them off E-Bay for about £5. I've seen nice girly ones in places like Au Naturel, Woollies etc.

    Re: Night lights

I think this is really common when they hit 2.5yrs - well Laura's had a nightlight since then anyway! We've had a few, but tbh I find they're all too bright when they're literally the only light, so Laura's is hidden behind a bookcase so it's as dim as I can get it whilst still lighting the room a bit. I think they're all much of a muchness tbh, and have seen various ones. MIL has one that changes colour but I find that a bit distracting, the one we have for Laura is just static standard 'bulb' colour!

ETA we do close her bedroom door, but she's fine with that as we've got a cat and as much as she might hate the door shut, she FREAKS at the cat being in her room at night (she loves him in the day though )!

    Re: Night lights

At home we leave a lamp on in the living room (we live in a one level flat) and Claire/Amys door is ajar so they do have some light coming in. It all started when Claire was toilet trained as she woke in the night to go to the loo and couldnt see so got really stressed.

At Grannys we just have a normal plug in dim nightlight which does fine.

There was a thread a while back if you do a search and folk were coming up with some really usual bedside lamps

I was saying ours is a rose quartz crystal one, as Fins very into crystals. I've always fancied those, oh what are they called, rechargable glowy sticky ones that slot into a base?

Leah has this one and loves it as she pick it up and use it as a torch as well

I can also highly recommend the book The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark by Jill Tomlinson which is great

Lucy isn't bothered by the dark at all but she got a Dora the Explorer torch for her Birthday and she likes to take it to bed now, probably because it projects the shape of Boots the Monkey on it
