Fecking cat!
I've just caught him, on the bench (the greatest sin in cat-dom IMHO) eating the leftovers of Lulah's dinner (chicken and rice).
Little ratbag
He KNOWS he's not allowed on the bench, but does he care? No he doesn't!
If anyone knows how I can stop him getting on the bench (oh, and shredding curtains) please could you let me know?
Thanks

Squirt him with a water pistol. Honestly, it sounds cruel but works a treat. My cats used to scratch the sofa, now I would only need to show them the pistol and they run away

ETA: actually the greatest sin in cat-dom is most definately bringing half-eaten half-alive baby birds into my living room and dropping them on the carpet.

The best way to correct bad behavior is to eliminate the factor that motivates or initates the behavior. If the cat enjoys playing with some particular item, hide it for several weeks. If he is curious about something, explore it with him so you can control his reactions.
If he continues to misbehave, use a specific loud noise to startle him. I mimic the sound of a game show buzzer. I have read that a low growl from you will turn your kitty around. Although that would work for me, our cats ignored my husband. As a last resort, a water gun, or spray bottle will deter bad behavior. NOTE: Use these sparingly, or they will cease to have their effectiveness. Eliminating the behavior motivitator is the better answer.

Re: Fecking cat!
You could try squirting him with a water pistol with something smelly in it, on the basis that they hate smelling odd and they hate grooming it off. I'd say Tea Tree oil, but I don't know how safe that is. Jeyes fluid is the classic, apparently.

Re: Fecking cat!
Aparently putting balloons on the worktop for a few days stops thm. They are meant to be scared of balloons and then see it as a scary place and don't go back
Never tried it myself

Re: Fecking cat!
The balloon idea sounds good. But first burst one in front of him, so he knows it's a scary object.
