Can I eat this? I am dying for some and parma ham in a salad...

I eat it, but hot - to kill off any chance of listeria (I think that's the reason you're not 'supposed' to eat it...)

But then, I'm an everything in moderation pregnant lady - and that might not suit everyone...

If you are wondering this as you are pregnant then I would say it's ok, as it's more of a milk based cheese, iykwim.

But having said that, women in france eat all sorts of cheese and seafood when pregnant don't they? I know my french friend did.

The only cheeses that have a (very very slim) chance of having listeria are soft, mould-ripened cheeses, such as brie or camembert, and blue-veined cheeses. So mozzarella is fine to eat.
