Re: Kiddie friendly restaurants
Most were wooden with no tray
what's wrong with that?? I think they're loads better without trays as you can sit them at the table with you and they feel far more included (plus it's easier for you to help them with their food!!)
I'd far rather have a wooden highchair than one of those minging plastic things that are never ever clean when you go places (I have heard that they're loads more difficult to clean than wooden ones - far too many nooks and crannies for dirt and detritus to accumulate in! And that certainly does seem to be the case of most plastic ones in restuarants)
Actually I can't really remember the last time I came across a plastic highchair in a restaurant - most of them are wooden aren't they?
Lon that's really interesting about Pizza Express - we eat there loads and they've never mentioned it!! Mind you, I'm quite liking the fact that H is eating my pizza at the mo as it means I eat less!!!
I've also taken H to Wagamamas a couple of times and they're v child friendly (not sure if someone has mentioned it on here) We haven't tried the children's menu yet (again, she just helps herself to my "doodles"
) but they're v welcoming to children and have crayons etc for them to play with (although the highchairs are the slightly scary ones that attach to the tables.........)

Re: Kiddie friendly restaurants
Am reading with interest, as we have a Pizza Express in Aberdeen. Maybe sometime we've been in town we can have our dinner there (but then it's a 45 minute drive home).
In terms of round here (rural) there is a great local pub - wouldn't go so far as to call it gastro pub, but Ian certainly does try, and comes up with some tasty pub favourites. His home made burgers are great (and at £4.95 a pop, with all the trimmings
) and gorgeous cullen skink, fab fish dishes etc. etc. Laura loves it there and is very welcome - highchair, changing table etc. Enclosed beer garden for the rare occasions it's warm enough up here
So I suppose we're lucky in that respect!

Re: Kiddie friendly restaurants
Katkinn it wasn’t advertised that they do it though so maybe ask if they would next time you don’t feel like sharing.
I got this off of their website
Q. Have you ever thought about doing smaller pizzas for children?
We like to offer all our customers (old and young!) the same PizzaExpress experience. Alternatives can include sharing a pizza between kids or asking the waiter /waitress if you could put some extra toppings on a garlic bread.

Re: Kiddie friendly restaurants
I thought they were pretty good when we went there at our Brent X meet. If Laura hadn't already eaten she could have eaten a whole plate of dumplings quite happily and some of my noodles - as the portions are MASSIVE!!

Re: Kiddie friendly restaurants
Oh the wooden highchairs without a tray didn't bother me - I am not the one with a baby (currently). But my mate was not v. happy about it.
She had forgotten babys hard bib, and was worried about all the food going on the floor. The baby is 8 months old.You must give your children 2 things in life: Roots and wings
Children need love, especially when they do not deserve it. ~Harold Hulbert

When childhood dies, its corpses are called adults and they enter society, one of the politer names of hell. That is why we dread children, even if we love them, they show us the state of our decay. ~Brian Aldiss
