I feel gutted - well, in fairness people are allowed not to like the book and that is okay but to describe it as a watered down version of Marian Keyes...

Feeling a little about the whole thing.

Definitely need to grow a thicker skin, but sometimes it feels so hard to be out there and open to criticism from anyone and everyone (because of course we never remember the praise).

The thing you have got to keep in your mind is that everyone gets criticised and rejected. What about all the bestsellers that were rejected at first (I believe Harry Potter was rejected by 9 publishers)
You can't please all of the people all of the time and logically what one person thinks is wonderful, someone else will think is not so good.

I know you are not going to like this but I am not such a big fan of Marian Keyes . I thought your book was much better

Even the most popular books some people don't like. I hated that Lovely Bones thing everyone was on about a few years ago, couldn't even finish it wheras there are loads who raved about it.

And I know you love her but I can't stand Marian Keyes books, I found yours much better and not padded out with unnecessary stuff.

ETA, HK is right, I fecking hate Harry Potter.

Totally agree with AG's last paragraph. I cannot get into any of M Keyes books at all. I loved yours to bits.

Think of how many positives there have been to the small amount of negatives.

I know I don't expect everyone to like it and I'm grateful for all the people who do but it stings to get two rubbish reviews in one day, eight weeks after the book has come out when you would think it would be past all the hype... with both saying similar things... if i was the paranoid type...

I did have a look on Amazon to see what you meant - and one of the reviewers has done one review and the other has done 2 both negative. The reviews below sounded much more heartfelt and eloquent IMO. I would concentrate on them!
