That's terrible! I'm kicking myself today because I bought a bottle of Buxton water that turned out to be bloody Nestle

My husband used to work for Nestle may he burn in hell forever!

I am sorry but I think the whole boycott Nestle thing has gone to far I do agree that they have been very naughty there though! Also in the past but the research back then wasn't as developed as it is now and at the time formula was really thought to be better than BM.

I do think this makes mums who can't or don't BF feel more guilty I am on the stop mums feeling guilty campaign!

    How come??

the Nestle boycott is about not supporting Nestles' cynical and law flouting promotion of formula in countries where babies die because they are not breastfed. It's nothing to do with formula feeding or making choices. It's about law breaking here and abroad and immoral practices.

I know plenty of formula feeding mums who boycott Nestle.

So how comes mums abroad can all bf perfectly and yet in the UK they can't?

Do you know how many babies end up with wet nurses in Africa and the like and then end up with HIV?

I guess I am just so fed up with dont' buy this buy that its travelled too many miles it isn't organic and so on!

I think I need to live on a farm and be self sufficient to stop feeling guilty.

I do think that is very bad though with the Jordan thing. But I ain't giving up the kit kats!

Because they have family with them to help them learn the skill.

I think the trouble is L that we are lucky to have a choice in most cases (I do aknowlege there are a small proportion of women who can't BF for medical reasons, but most of us can choose either way), but in these developing countries the interference of formula companies takes away that choice.

The companies employ / sponsor / support health professionals who tell the mothers that formula is best and / or breast is not good enough, so the mothers take free samples of milk that last 6w or so, in which time thier milk dries up leaving then needing to use formula, sometimes having to strave themselves or older children to afford to buy it. They also do crazy things like water the formula down to make it last longer as its so expensive to buy. So its not simply a case of formula getting promoted and these ladies having the choice, or just being offered to mums who have medical issues, they're being forced into a corner and left without choices it would seem.

I think Cherry Fizz is right, in countries where BF is prevelent women don't tend to question if they can BF - its just the norm, they've seen it all thier lives done openly and have the women of thier communities on hand to help if they have problems, even if that means having another woman to wet nurse. Also a lot of our BF problems in the western world are caused by lifestyle choices which just aren't an issue for most mums in developing countries (like say the mum who opts for formula as she needs to leave her child and go out to work and is unsucessful at expressing milk).

I agree not to feel guilty about your ethical and environmental choices in life. Guilt is a destructive and unhelpful emotion. I think being aware of the world around you is key and feeling happy with the choices you make and the life you lead.

I have nothing to say on the breastfeeding debate but agree that that is SHOCKING product placement and shame on Jordan for making money from shoving a bottle in her baby's mouth whilst simultaneously flashing her cleavage - what a bizarre picture - she isn't even cradling her baby just angling the bottle so you can see it.
