Good books /CDs for Children Thread

Perhaps this should be in Books??

Can have recommendations for good books please to buy bit by bit for snoopy?

We have the Guess How much I love you? book and a few of the Baby Einstein books

Which ones do your LO love being read to them??

Can anyone recommend me a great childrens fairy tale book too?

I have all the Baby Einstein CD Mozart etc and she is beginning to like those

I'd also like a good lullaby word CD/Book? I have the Baby Einstein one -but it has no words.

    Thanks ladies

This isnt a spoken word cd but I bought a cd called Lullaby by Sophie Barker or Zero7 (sorry cant remember which),which has loads of nursery rhymes that are beautifully sung. We put it on every night at bathtime, then baby massage then bed. Every time I hear Lavender's Blue Dilly Dilly it brings a tear to my eye, such happy memories

ETA re books for babies, you cant beat the "that's not my...." range by Usborne which have textures and bright colours. Also Ladybird do some lovely textured books with nursery rhymes etc called Baby Touch

Tess also liked Poppy Cat books as they were short and colourful.

When she was tiny her fave books just had black and white patterns on, she loved them!

We love the Usbourne series of books called 'That's Not My.....'

We have That's not my car and That's not my monster. We read them to Finlay from a young age and now he's getting to the age where he wants to touch the books and they are very tactile with different textures.

There's loads in the series - dinosaur, fairy, puppy, teddy, lion etc

Seagull - I've recently had a massive clear out and have some books and CD's that Amelia is now to old for.

I'll post them out to you tomorrow as they are no good for me, maybe Amelia can read them to Snoppy when we visit, or at least pretend too.

Amazing baby books are fab really good for little ones and such lasting appeal.

Now she's older she has some absolutely adorable books (they appeal so much more now to me and her Dad, seeing as they have more of a story as they get older) and her faves are

    Truelove
    How to catch a star
Beegu (highly recommend this one for toddlers)
    Very Hungry Catterpillar
    Snail and the Whale
    Gruffallo
    Maisy's bathtime
    Miffy's birthday

But from when she was much younger (poss even 6 months old) her ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE AUTHOR has been and still is

    Shirley Hughes

for a younger baby there is "Keeping busy" (this was the book I read to her in the womb, as I heard somewhere this was good for them. She adores it still ) and for a bit older "Bathwater's Hot" and older still there is "Helpers". She is besotted with them all, really identifies with the little girl in the first two and thinks she is her!

CD wise, Laura has Classic FM for Babies and listens to it every night when going to sleep.
