Update on Ellie and school in Sept
Well school, has not been back in touch
So i have rang them, and told them that if Ellie can not go to school on the 3rd of Sept with the rest of her friends(not the 17th they have given E), she will not attend AT ALL until Jan 5th 08.
I have spoken to her nursery, and they are willing to write a letter to them explaining, that E is ready for school, and will cope well, and is so ready for full time school.
They have told me that if E doesnt get a full time space like all her friends, they are willing to apply for government funding so she can stay until January.
Which would make my life, and her life less stressful, as she wouldnt have to go up to the school daily and see all her friends there, (when we drop DD1 off) and ask why she isnt going to 'big school' like the rest of them, i know for certain, if she doesnt attend like her friends she is going to kick off big time, as she doesnt understand the concept of Birth Months
and she doesnt meet the age group for full time school.
So there we have it, im waiting on a call, to see if she goes full time, or if i will applying for the nursery funding until Jan

Re: Update on Ellie and school in Sept
I have just been to a meeting with the headmaster and Ellies reception teacher.
Ellie will not attend school in Sept now, the head master struck her name off the list
he was very arogant, and said no other parent has ever had a problem with the way they run things.
It is nothing to do with her not going full time, its the fact that all her friends will be in school as of the 4th of Sept, and E doesnt go at all til the 17th, and by then all her friends will be full time, and Ellie will be going at 12.
They told me first off that the morning session will just be spent getting them used to school environment, but in the next breath told me that by her going to nursery again for 2 terms, she will be missing out on alot of things
well to me thats bullshit as the whole point of her going half day until Jan is because they wont be really doing anything until then
So there you have it, the school is full of crap, and is now pissed off with me because they will miss out on funding for my child.
Nursery have already sorted it and she will go back there until Jan 08 when she will be old enough for 'big school'
I am absolutely fuming about it all, but i had to do what was best for my child, and if that means staying in nursery for 2 terms then so be it

Re: Update on Ellie and school in Sept
OMG that is pathetic and very unaccomodating IMO.
Is that the policy of all the local schools
Would be interesting.
Ours was half day for 2 weeks for my daughter who started in 2005 and when my son started in 2003, he is the youngest in the class (31/7 birthday) he went straight in with full days. Strange

Re: Update on Ellie and school in Sept
Alex is going mornings only until Jan 08 - we have no option around here. There is only one intake in September else we have to defer it for another year.
It's not great but it's our only choice !

That was what he had to do for Becca. She was ready for full time school but coped ok with just going part time till Jan.

Re: Update on Ellie and school in Sept
Have to admit I agree. I would much rather Noah went at 5 than 4, but his nursery teacher has told me I would be doing him a disservice by keeping him back.

I think you've done right keeping Ellie back, but, as Stru says... Could you not defer for another year?
