Re: Gravy...
Ok well what I do is take the meat pan, and pour off any fat.
Put the dish on a lowish heat on the hob, and stir in some flour about a dessert spoon, and stir a lot, to make sure there are no lumps, then I add a spoonful of marmite (for colour and flavor) a splash of vino, and some vegetable water, then I adjust the heat and make it boil to thicken.
You could add some stock or bullion if you have it, but I don't have that sort of thing at home.Last edited by emsie; 08-07-2007 at 01:11pm.

Re: Gravy...
I do it a different way
I use the meat tin with the fat,(on the hob) add some flour mix it in till all the flour is mixed well, then add 2 oxo cubes, a dash of gravy browning and then the water off the veg a little at a time until the gravy is the right consistency
I never use granules i hate it, it puts a film over my tongue its

Re: Gravy...
Well if i have cooked beef, or pork or lamb, i wont use cubes, as you get the flavcours from the meat but 90% of the time in this house we have chicken, so i find putting in an oxo helps with a better flavour, and adding an oxo cube is nothing like BISTO
