. Eczema - what worked for your child?

Roy has had patches of eczema on his legs since he was a couple of months old, it used to come and go but now its definitely getting worse and new areas are appearing.

I've always used Fucidin H and oilatum cream, but its time to try something different I think. Any recommendations?

We cut out cow's milk for Eilis and used goats milk instead. Made a huge difference.

Cows milk has been a no no for us to.

Also I have steered away from the drs remedies and gone for skincare products with no nasties in them such as Earth Friendly Baby and I wash all her clothes in non bio,

The excema is not gone but it is a lot better

It's nowhere near clear, but sleep has made an amazing difference. She's been sleeping through for nearly two weeks now, and her whole skin is a different colour.

Epaderm in the bath also helps a lot too, plus rubbing it in while she's in the bath.

For a moisturiser I've been using a Jurlique one my sister got in Oz, but not sure if that's a factor.

Also finally went to the doc and got some mild hydrocortisone for the really weepy patches on her arms and legs. It works for her, although has to be applied every day to keep it away.

For the first year when it was bad the only thing that orked was allergenics. The second year was not so cold and we kept it at bay with oilatum and diprobase.

Allergenics is great, 100% natural non-steroidal and did seem to make a difference. You can get it online - google it, but I think you can also get it on prescription if you want and it works for you as the £££ will add up.

Emulsifying Ointment is the best, with hydrocortisone for when it cracks or gets really bad. We used Oilatum in the bath when it was at its worst, and now use Aqueous cream; have never used any soap etc, just a mild shampoo very occasionally.

I also found that consistency helps, it got noticeably worse if I didn't apply anything for a day or so.

I am not sure if its excema or not but seeing as my Dad suffers form it badly I choose to take a natural route as possible!

All toiletiries are SLS free Earth Friendly Baby and Halo and Horns do good ranges and for dry patches pur potions nappy balm they go really quickly ith this stuff but it is pricey!

    I'd investigate his diet...
    Cow's milk
    Wheat
    Corn
    Soy

I think those are the most common allergens. I replaced my daughter's cow's milk with goat (as soy is a no for her!). I'm currently experimenting with wheat and corn. I think wheat is okay but corn gives her eczema right behind her knees.

We used oilatum in the bath and aqueous cream all over morning and night, and a spot of hydrocortisone when i was bad and it all worked a treat. Now the weather is a bit better its going away as well.

I had Lush Dream Cream recommended a lot on here but it really irritated Louis.

I haven't cut out cow milk totally, just cut back to a tiny amount! And she has no sugar or rubbish as this really makes her scratch

But we 'wet wrap' three times a week, she has a bath in Oilatum, and I rub it into her skin then pat off, smother her in diprobase, with hydrocortoson cream on any sore bits, then I put on damp tubi grip bandages, with dry ones over the top........as it is so hot at the moment she doesn't have PJ's, but would have in the summer!

It does take an hour to do, but her skin was horrific, and now looks almost normal!
