Does anybody else's toddler scream morning, noon or night

I don't think I can take much more of Isabel's tantrums. They are wearing out my patience and I have to put her into time out in her cot for her own safety as I could gladly wring her neck
She has got progressivly worse this week, am presuming this is all a reaction to James arrival but anytime she can't have her own way she screams, tantrums, hits, scratches, slaps, headbuts, whinges, cries, kicks, stamps her feet....you get the picture
I have seriously just listened to her scream her head off for over an hour because we went out for a walk and I made the foolish mistake of letting her run around the grass in the park and then she had to go back into the buggy. It is so bad that now I refuse to let her out of the pushchair and we no longer go to the swings.
The tantrums we have had today have been because grandma went home, I wouldn't let her have the remote control, she wanted to climb up the kitchen cupboard but couldn't, I was feeding James, she wanted to follow Daddy to the toilet, I took her away from playing with the door, I needed to take my keys off her, I wouldn't let her have a magazine on the cupboard..................it's endless.
At what point will she learn that these tantrums do not get her what she wants?
She is driving me mental and I just don't want to be anywhere near her.

CL - firstly biiiiiiiiig

.
I could have written your post a few weeks after I had DD1. DS and I literally became worst enemies. Tantrums over everything, our up till then fairly chilled house became an almost 24h war zone. I'm ashamed to say I actually began to resent DS and wonder why in the hell I had had kids.
I can't type tooo much now but just wanted to say its a bl**dy awful place to be but it *does* end. Fast foward a couple of months and DS and I were as close as ever, he was doting on his little sister and I was happy and settled enough in life to start a business!

It does get better!!! Will try post more later....

For the past 2 days when i have picked him up at nursery & they tell me he has been such a good little thing, we dont get to the car and he is kicking off with me
& he stays kicking off and screaming until bed time...
The past few weekends he has screamed the whole day... It is driving me mad and he is getting worse

Re: Does anybody else's toddler scream morning, noon or night
The first week after we brought Penny home Lucy was exactly like this, well tbh the tantrums had been building up prior to this but then they really reached a crescendo. I'm pretty sure it was her little protest about her not being centre of attention, coupled with daddy being at home. (She always turns into a whinger when he is around
) She really has calmed down though is that any consolation to you. I must admit I have tried both telling her off ignoring it and neither strategy were much help. What I do now is try to explain why she can't do x,y,z, then give her something else to think about!
I really do think this stage is hardest one developmentally - they have that desire to be independent but don't have the mental capacity to pull it off and it gets them (and us) very frustrated.
Try to keep your cool, I know its not easy though.

Yes - all the time. Its the turn on crying the second he doesnt get his own way which really gets me! I must admit by the end of some days I really dont like him very much. At the same time though he can be sooo loving and sweet! WHY CAN'T THEY BE LIKE THAT ALL THE TIME??????
