Could I have a step by step guide for my courgettes please?

If you saw my other thread you will know that they have grown like triffids, although I guess this is normal?

Anyway, on the packet it says to plant them out when they are at 5/6 leaf stage. The 3rd and 4th leaves are only just coming out so if I followed that advice would not be ready BUT they're only in a small tray and I'm worried their roots will get all tangled together. The plants seem far too big already for the tray they're in.

So - should I move them out now? And should I put them in their final pots now, or smaller ones? And would it just be one plant per pot? Anything else I need to think about?

    Thanks.

you could pot them on to small pots.

I wouldn't put tiny seedlings straight into giant pots, I would pot them on gradually so the pots are getting bigger and bigger.

Can you put them in the ground, or a growbag? They take up quite a large area when they are fully matured plants.

I haven't got room in the ground, didn't really want to use growbags as I'll be putting tomatoes in growbags. I grew them for pots really as I read that they are suitable for containers, I'm not going to keep all ten plants though - just a couple for me.

Do you think I'll be ok doing that?

Well if you read they are suitable for containers, then I am sure they are, I have only ever grown them once, and they were little tiddlers at that never turned into marrows overnight likle people say, but then again I think I posted on your other thread, they took about 6 weeks to germinate, I nearly threw then out cos I thought they wouldn't ever shoot.

I just remember they stretched out and grew as if they were on a vine.
