Saw a horrible thing over the weekend...
Was absolutely disgusted with something I saw over the weekend
Myself, OH and his DS were down at the bottle bank as we were well overdue a trip. It's a big recycling area and there is a clothes bank there as well. There was a group of (and sorry if I offend anyone by what I call them but...) pikeys standing around the clothes bank. They had a car with them that was FULL of bags of clothes. So much so that there was no way the driver could see out the back window. Anyway I glanced over and saw the mother riffling through some clothes and I just assumed she was examining the clothes before putting them in the clothes bank. OH how wrong was I! I looked over again and she seemed to be taking clothes out of the clothes bank but I couldn't figure out how, as its a small enough space and there is no way she could have reached into it to take out the clothes. She also kept looking around her and generally acting suspicious. Me and OH happened to look over at the same time to see her pull her young daughter out of the clothes bank! She had put her in and was making the poor child throw out all the clothes so she could take what she wanted
I couldn't believe what I was seeing. And then any of the clothes that she didn't want, she was just throwing them on the ground. They left a couple of minutes later. Me and OH where sooo shocked. I didn't even know who to report it to. How could anyone get their child to do something like that? And it was a really hot day, what if the child got stuck and couldn't get out? And you have no idea what could have been in the clothes bank with the clothes. It was just unbelievable

OMG!
That is unbelievable.
It's a shame if they are really desperate for clothes as that must be awful - but they could buy them from a charity shop for such a little amount. That way everyone benefits.....she would have been nice looking if she hadn't been wearing a look that suggested there was a nasty smell under her nose..........
Just for Noo Noo:

Im betting though that the clothes werent actually for them. The chances are they were going to be sold on so were just looking for "decent" stuff.
I would phone the council as its obviously not the first time this has been done

I don't think they were doing it out of desperation. They were driving a 06 car and again sorry if this offends anyone, but I have never known a pikey that does not have plenty of money. Those clothes are meant to go to help really poor people who really need help, not for some pikey who can't be bothered to buy clothes and steals from people who really need them.

Re: Saw a horrible thing over the weekend...
I've seen people doing things like that before, I used to live in a flat opposite a supermarket car park. The butcher used to bin all the leftover meat and afew hours after they closed a car used to come up and a young lad would be put in the bin and he'd pass all the meat out and the bloke with him would load it into the car. I remember posting about it on HB and got a right flaming for criticising homeless people
which in my experience don't tend to have cars but there you go. If they had been selling it on someone could have got very nasty poisoning

If that was the case then it really is an awful thing to do.

The council in my area are rubbish and they were gone by the time I even found my voice to ring anyone! There is a halting site in our town and the pikeys are notorious as it is so I'm sure the council would not have batted an eyelid.

I am not sorry, pikey scum, putting their child at risk is not acceptable under any circumstances, whether we wish to believe the clothes would be used to clothe themselves or not.
If the bin has a charity name on it, it might just be worth ringing them and letting them know what you saw as they may consider a bin redesign down the line that could ensure this cannot happen.

Im a pikey give me your clothes you land lubbers, actually it is pretty dangerous putting someone in one of those things, you dont know what else has been thrown in there, ive seen people chuck glass bottles and dogs mess in them before, after they have picked it up in a poo bag obviously.

OMG
- Mind you, you can bet your bottom dollar, if (god forbid) something terrible had happened, that they would be the first in line complaining and asking for all sorts of restrictions and safety gates, etc etc.
It makes me SO mad
