So excited!
DH has planted a LOVELY garden this year.
He read a book about the square foot gardening method and has tried it with HUGE success already. We've already had enough lettuce (all different types) and rocket to have a salad picked right out the garden every night for at least two weeks now!
We've also got sugar snap peas ready to pick, radishes are fully grown, carrots are almost there, swiss chard ready for picking tonight!
We've got about 20 tomato bushes and 4 bell pepper plants that have small fruits on already so a few more weeks and we'll have more tomatoes than we can use! He grew them from seeds and they're all heirloom ones so plenty of yummy black and green and stripy tomatoes.
He has also planted fingerling potatoes, ginger root and horseradish root! All this in three very small boxes. I've added pics too so you can see what I'm talking about. They are SO ideal for the average English garden as they take up no space at all.
The tomatoes are in seperate boxes. I'll find some pics of those later. We threw some flowers in the veg. boxes to add some colour.
Anyway, just wanted to share our garden this year. Anyone else into gardening veg. too?

Re: So excited!
I'm jealous - I would love to have a veggie patch but not enough space.
When I grew up my grandparents grew all their own fruit and veg and I have fond memories of going into the garden and helping myself to strawberries and gooseberries and my favourite thing was to pick peapods and eat the raw peas - yummy! I used to help my grandma shell the peas at the kitchen table.
I so look forward to the day I can have a little veg garden as the taste is soooo much better.
Well done you!

You only need a 4x4 foot box to have enough veg. for one adult to get their 5 a day!

Oh LPP - that garden looks so lovely!
I once grew cherry tomatoes on the patio - it was very satisfying. I looked after those plants like babies!!!!
....she would have been nice looking if she hadn't been wearing a look that suggested there was a nasty smell under her nose..........
