How do you make your tandoori chicken?

Following on from BIba's thread yesterday, I have a real hankering for Tandoori chicken and shall be adding it to my menu for next week.

Now I haven't made it for ages as tbh, I wasn't that great at doing it. I just used to mix tandoori paste with yoghurt and marinate the chicken, then bake, but it never tasted as good as when my mum used to make it when we were little.

I just wondered if other people did something different and could they share please!!

    Thanking you all!!

Re: How do you make your tandoori chicken?

I never thought of using tandoori paste

This is how I did ours

    Chicken bits
    Juice 1 lemon
    sea salt
    For marinade
    250ml or 9fl plain yougart
    1 onion cut into chunks
    3 cloves of garlic
    1inch piece of ginger
    2tbsp tumeric
    1 green chilli seeded
    1tbsp Garm masala

Cut slits into chicken bits sprinkle with lemon juice and salt and leave to stand for 30min

meanwhile whizz all the marinade ingredients in a food processor or blender util you have a smooth paste. Add the chicken cover and leave to marinade in a cool place for several hours or overnight if you can.

Pree heat a baking tray 250oc or Gas 9 place chicken on tray and bake for 20 min.

I don't have a food processor but do have a hand blender thing and even though it wasn't a smooth paste it was smooth enough.

I SO knew this is what your post was going to be predictable or what??!!

To be fair I LOVE the tandoori from a takeaway but then I just HAVE to order peshawari naan and a king prawn puree to start and my "healthy eating" meal goes bombing out of the window.

Biba you are a star!! I do have a food processor so that should be really easy for me!!

oooh vaguely authentic tandoori chicken (although not sure I'll be flinging it against the side of my oven like I think they do in a real tandoor!!! or is that just the bread?? )

*Ahem* Everyone knows it's the bread they fling on the side of the oven.

(I saw it on Big Cook Little Cook . Who says children's TV isn't educational?)

I've learned not to touch the oven, because it is hot, hot, hot.

I'm going to follow that one religiously!
