    Wonky eyes and leg update

I took Maisie to the health visitor today to get her weighed and ask her advice on a couple of things.

Luckily, I got the nice, clever one.

I needed to know if she thought Maisie has a squint. I don't think she does, and neither did she, but squints run in DH's family so I want it checked out. So she is referring us to see that clever eye person like what Lucypede is but I can't remember the nameof it .

Also, this week my mum was looking after Maisie and thinks she has something wrong with her legs and walking. Basically, she swings her right leg out in a circle when she walks (holding onto stuff, she can't/won't walk on her own ). She doesn't bend her knee and her toes point inwards.

The HV rushed me into the docs for her to have a look at. She did the nasty hip test thing and that was ok, but the doc does think she ought to be seen as it's not right.

So there we go. Two hospital appointments to look forward to.

It is best to get the hip thing checked out. A mum I know has twins and one of them has just had a hip operation (not saying M needs one) but it took months before the Dr would even refer them as he thought they were just comapring the babies. Turned out it had been dislocated from birth

So for nice HV lady. At least if there is something wrong it will be sorted out.

Pleased you got a nice HV who took you seriously !

A had to see an optometrist a few weeks ago as DH and I are both really short sighted and it was quite a fun appt really !

Best to get the leg thing checked out while she's young before she gets too set in how she walks IYKWIM.

    Hope all goes well

Really hope Maisie is okay on both counts.

We're waiting for an appt to see an Orthoptist for Dixie too . When I took Lola for her 8/9 month check, Dixie was with me too, and the HV asked if Dixie has a squint . She though that her right eye turns in slightly (although the lovely Lucypede kindly looked at a pic of Dixie for me and she doesn't think there is a problem) but there is still that worry of 'what if'

My Dd had a dislocated hip at birth and is just fine now. It could be muscular rather than the hip socket, your LO will be xrayed to check it out. Does she walk with a wide gate(sp), was she late sitting up or walking? Another factor to look for is the creases on the legs are not uniform, they dont line up with each other. These are just symptoms, but the orthopaedic consultants will tell you more. Dont worry, if lt was anything serious it would have been spotted by now.

I hope everything goes well Pancake. to you and little Maisie. It is best to get things checked over.
....she would have been nice looking if she hadn't been wearing a look that suggested there was a nasty smell under her nose..........

    Just for Noo Noo:
