    musical instrument

My son is 4 and I am very keen on introducing him to a musical instrument
I have never really played one and wonder what is best to start with and for his age...
    Any ideas, please?

    Re: musical instrument

Do they have lessons at school? I know at my school they usually offer recorder lessons then when they've been learning that for a bit they move on to other woodwind instruments. There are also a couple of reception children who are having string tuition.
It will depend on what is available.

The other route you could take is private lessons and the most obvious instrument is the piano.
I still regret not learning to play the piano properly! (I play the Clarinet and Saxophone and started lessons when I was 8.) I think the issues with learning instruments like this (and brass instruments) would be the size of them and being able to hold them. If you were set on him learning one though I know there are small clarinets available and violins are usually made in small sizes too.

I guess that brings me back to why the piano might be a good way to start.

Hope that makes sense to you!
