    Rah! My MIL

Honest to god, my MIL says the stupidest things sometimes

I drop Jack off on a Monday morning and only have 5 mins to do this, as I have to get straight back on the A1. Conversation this morning:
Me: 'I've brought his cough medicine as he's got cold again'
Her: Do you know what causes mucus?'
    Me: having cold?
Her: No, wheat. Maybe he's got a wheat intolerence

Eh? How the feck has a one year old got a wheat intolerence

Me: No I don't think he's got a wheat intolerence. I think he's got cold.
Her: Well I have a wheat intolerence. My doctors told me I've got blah blah blah...

Why on earth would someone say that abou a one year old I was soooo mad I phoned my DH and absolutely RANTED down the phone until I ran out of credit. He says he's going to 'sort it' but I know that it'll just cause bad feeling.

Also its more if the long term worry of her having too much contact with Jack. My SIL refuses to let her have any time with her daughter when she's not around so she can contradict any 'gems of wisdom'. Unfortunately I can't afford not to use her one day a week while I'm at work.

Don't get me wrong she absolutely loves 'the grandbairns' but she's just soooo ignorant

Hehehe - I totally understand where you're coming from. I don't have kids but if me and OH decide to at some point there's no way I could leave them with my in-laws. They say the most stupid, ignorant and bigoted things that I just wouldn't want them tranmitting their bilge to my child. Don't like them anyway (as you might have guessed) so I certainly won't feel guilty about staying well clear. Any little ones can see my lovely parents for grandparent activities!
