Recommend me a
casserole dish please. Further to my thread about casserole recipes I have just ordered a casserole cookbook. But I need a good casserole to do them all in. I have looked on the net but am very confused about sizes..etc.
It needs to be able to be used on the hob and also in the oven and maybe microwave (for reheating purposes). And it needs to feed a family of 4.
Any suggestions?

Was going to suggest a le creuset too! I have both of those and a larger round one and they are all v v useful. I always buy mine when they're on special offer (half price or buy one get a frying pan free etc). I use them for slightly different things - eg the shallow one for lighter dishes or baked rissotos etc and the bigger one when I'm making a casserole to last 2 days or feed friends
Worth every penny imho

Same recommendation from me! I don't have one yet but will be getting one at the weekend with my Debenhams vouchers.

I have a large oval one and the shallow round one. They are both fab. I do all my risottos etc in the shallow one. I don't think they can go in the microwave though, although I have never had a microwave so am clueless.

I've got the big round Le Creuset casserole, they are worth the money - my mum has had hers for about 20 years.
I wouldn't microwave it but if you cooked double the amount you could freeze the leftovers in a plastic container, take it out the day before needed to defrost in the fridge then re-heat gently in the Le Creuset pot to serve, iyswim?
I think Ikea do their own version of LC (ie cast iron pots) that look very similar but are a lot cheaper.

I would also recommend the large oval Le Creuset. My mum gave me hers, and I can't believe how much use I get out of it lately. I don't cook casseroles, but it's great for oven baked risotto, I also use it for meatballs in tomato sauce and biryani.

Same here - le Creuset! Very pricey though. They sometimes sell it in Denby factory shops.

Another le Creuset vote, it's fab, well worth it (I think the cast iron comes with a lifetime guarantee)
