Anybody have a rocking cradle?
My Mum is giving me my little brothers cradle - but what i didn't realise is that it is a rocking cradle!
Is this good or bad?
Will baby get used to being rocked to sleep?
Any thoughts?

Re: Anybody have a rocking cradle?
We had one, and I loved it mainly because it was bigger than a Moses basket, but fitted far easier into our bedroom. Also it seems a nice middle ground when they are tiny between the MB and the huge huge cot!
I never really rocked Dan actually to sleep in it, but it was handy to calm him down a bit when he was overtired.

We have a rocking crib, mainly because we would have struggled with the cotbed in our room and we used the moses basket just downstairs.
I never actually rocked her in it though, I don't think.

We had a rocking crib (same reasons as above, it is bigger than a moses basket) T was in it until about 4 months. I don't think we used it rocking though. It was always locked in place.

Re: Anybody have a rocking cradle?
So, can baby go straight into the rocking cradle or should they use MB first?
Does it rock much if they mooch about whilst asleep?
This will be in our bedroom, i guess i could use the "pramette" part of our buggy if baby was to sleep downstairs during the day??

Re: Anybody have a rocking cradle?
They can go straight into the cradle, no need for a moses basket if you don't want.
Most cradles have a locking mechanism of them to stop them rocking.

Re: Anybody have a rocking cradle?
We had one which I borrowed off my cousin and I'm so glad we didn't buy one! Ours had a pin to hold it in place which we always used because if she rolled sideways, which she did at the beginning, it put the whole thing on a lean and she ended up with her face pressed against the bars. But because of the pin it squeaked ever so slightly but was enough to keep her awake and us - it must have been really annoying for her squeaking just above her head. She didn't sleep very well at all in it and we managed 9 days with it before giving up. We then used our Bugaboo carrycot for four weeks before borrowing a moses basket from a friend and she was quite happy in both of those so must have been the squeaking causing the problem.

Re: Anybody have a rocking cradle?
We have a gliding crib, as opposed to rocking, so it moves from side to side on a level rather than tilting, if that makes sense.
It was really good but we didnt rock it very ofter, usually it was locked in place. We are about to lend it to a friend for their baby as daniel only fitted in it for about six weeks or so so it is as good as new. He was a long baby though, not a small crib.
