Can anyone help re Bank Charges please?
Hi all,
Can anyone just give me a wee bit of guidance? I'm sitting with piles of bank statements in front of me and i'm a bit confused about what i can and can't claim back.
Basically HSBC charge me a certain amount of interest each month plus another amount of 'total charges' each month.
Can I claim back both the interest and the total charges?
Thanks if you can offer any light at the end of this tunnel

Re: Can anyone help re Bank Charges please?
Hia Nikki,
Ok, you can claim back the interest as well as any other charges (such as returned DD's, unarranged borrowing, etc).
I didn't claim my interest back as it was so little and I couldn't be bothered working that out as well as my charges. However, there is nothing to stop you claiming it back at all - after all, the interest is usually a result of you going overdrawn due to their charges.
Littlejojo - this is definitely something you could do. Basically if you have any charges on your account over the past 6 years, then you are well within your rights to claim them back, as they have recently been classed as unlawful.
There is another thread in Legal & Financial which has links to all of the letter templates you need.
