Solids and nappy rash?

Since I've been giving Maisie solids (we're on Day 6 now), I've obviously noticed a change in her poo - mmm nice red bits in it. She also seems to be suffering from nappy rash. Is this normal? I've put some cream on it (it's a mix of lavender, vaseline and lanolin) and given her some nappy off time this morning. Is there anything else I can do? She seems perfectly happy though, so it can't be bothering her too much. It's just that she's never had any nappy rash at all before.

If the rash doesn't seem to be bothering her i'd say carry on using what you're using. I would only get worried if she gets either the runs or goes the other end of the scale and starts struggling to go for a No.2.
