    Re: Carrycot bit for prams..

We used the carry cot loads. It was so convenient to have a portable bed for them.

Just to add we used the carrycot loads. we use it in the house too - saves moving the Moses basket around. We've been moving her from the car seat to the carrycot when we're out too, although I think that will get harder as she gets older. Have a look on ebay for carrycots if you don't want to pay new prices. They're often in very good condition as they're only used for a few months.

We had one and never ever used it, both of them hated it and would scream until they were picked up even if they were asleep when put in it. So whilst I liked the idea, for us it was a waste of money.

We used the carrycot on our M&P Ultima loads - more first time round as we didn't have a moses basket so it was M's bed for the first 10 weeks, but we did use it again with Emma.

This time round I had a Maclaren Techno as well as the Ultima which had a soft carrycot which I found really useful for public transport when Emma was tiny - we took it to Disneyland Paris too as it was much more portable than the big pram.

WSS. Have an almost brand new carrycot gathering dust upstairs.

I think they're a good idea for an autumn/winter baby as they're more sheltered than a car seat, especially if you'll be doing a fair bit of walking outside (and you might as this might be the only way it naps).

For me no. Both of mine hated lying flat. It may be the guidelines, but Thomas was big and had head control from birth and really screamed his lungs out in the pram bit. Clara was better with it but I didn't use it for more than a few weeks.

No advice really, but could it be an idea to buy a carry cot for the buggy and also use it in the house instead of a moses basket?

    Re: Carrycot bit for prams..

With dd1 I didn't have one - she was such a different baby to dd2! Dd2 loved to be cosy & swaddled, dd1 stretched out. As a result I got a lot of use out of the carrycot for dd2 - she wouldn't sleep anywhere else until she was 7m old (she was touching all 4 sides of the carrycot by then!).
I had the iCandy cherry for dd2 & while it was great when she was in the carrycot I didn't rate it when she was bigger - the pushchair bit held her above the front wheels - so it wasn't easy to steer as her weight was right there. I didn't realise when I bought it as she was tiny & in the carrycot but it was such a bad design. (hopefully they've improved it but have a look with the pushchair bit on).
