Re: Has anyone's child had a turn in their eye/squint?
My youngest had a turned eye, we took him to the docs and they referred him to the hosp. He would look buzz eyed at times.
His eye sight was fine so they said glasses/ patches wouldn't make a difference and he had to have an op to correct it. If he didn't in time he could have gone blind in that eye. He had the op in May last year and all went very well and he's now all good and discharged from the hosp
I think id prob take her to the docs to see if she needs to be seen by the eye department myself.

She has been great with the glasses and taken to wearing them with no problems at all. She wears them all the time.
When she is in the bath is about the only time I see her without them. For the first five mins her eyes look great. After that the left eye droops and looks terrible.
I keep wondering if I should be asking for a referral to the hospital. She has had a sty on the poor eye for over three weeks now. I read they should go themselves in a couple of days. It comes and go. At first she didn't notice it. It isn't as bad looking but now she says it feels swollen. Some days isn't visable at all.
We'll see the HV on Friday for preschool immunisations. I don't know whether to take her to the GP first.DS July 2003, DD1 January 2005, DD2 August 2008

A couple of weeks ago I took dd to the Dr about the sty and asked whether she should be referred to the hospital. The GP said the opticians were normally good.
Out of the blue the GP phoned me today. After the appointment he had asked others and the consensus was that she should be referred to an opt something, I didn't catch the professions name. He is making a referral. I was shocked to get the phone call as he seemed certain the opticians care was fine, he didn't mention checking whether this was the case or not.

Re: Has anyone's child had a turn in their eye/squint?
Try not to worry Hun, Camille is under the care of a team at hospital and in my opinion, they are much more thorough and careful than a high street optician. Camille now has glasses, two sets, one prescribed in both eyes, one patched with a prescription in the other eye. They've been amazing xxx
