Tonsillitis - do they give antibs these days?

I've always had antibiotics for tonsilitus, used to get it very regularly. If you are feeling that bad, go to the walk in and see what the dr says.

I left it 3 weeks before going as though it was a virus. Gp presribed antibiotics when i went as there was lots of pus. If you are feeling really rough then worth going and getting checked out

I went and I got antibs as she could see pus on the tonsils. Fingers crossed I'll feel better soon.

It's actually the pain in the back of my head/neck that's really getting to me now. That and feeling so tired I keep dropping off on the sofa (before DD takes it upon herself to scream about some mishap or other!). It's such a nasty illness!

Awww Mrs F I hope they kick in really quickly for you, it is a horrible thing because it knocks you totally. DS I think is coming down with it tonight - complaining of a sore throat all day and now he has a temp, raging headache and swollen glands in his neck and his throat looks a bit yucky.......if he's not right tommorrow then I'll take him to the dr's - its already 11.13 so he is going to be knackered tommorrow!

Oh no, get well soon to your DS, VC! Poor lad.

I've had 4 doses now, so 1 day's worth, and I feel so much better already I can't believe it. I think I'll be back to work tomorrow. I've had so much sleep too, which has helped.

Glad you are feeling better today Mrs F.....thanks for your well wishes for DS, he is feeling rotten today bless him, kept him off school and picked up his antibiotics, hopefully he will be better in a few days.

Oh poor thing, hope the antibs kick in soon.

I spoke too soon as my antibs have made me feel really nauseous so I'll be off tomorrow, but I absolutely have to be back Wed so will have to learn to live with it.
