Re: How do you get your young children up in the mornings?

Most of the time they wake up themselves, (although they always wake up earlier at weekends even though they're up much later! ). If they're not awake they usually wake up when I go into the bathroom, it's rare I have to go up to their room and get them. We get up at 6.45 and leave at 7.45 as DH drops us at my dad's which is around the corner from the school on his way to work.

Although one of the few benefits of DH being made redundant at the end of this month is that we won't have to leave the house till 8.45 in September so will have loads more time in the morning.

Re: How do you get your young children up in the mornings?

It's a rare occasion that I have to wake any of them. Usually it's when they've had a late night due to some event. The older two sort themselves out with alarm clocks, DS3 has an alarm clock but wakes early naturally. DS4 goes to bed to allow for 10-12 hrs and wakes naturally usually because of the noise in the house. I'm often the last one up

Jacob (5) wakes between 5:30/6:00am every day without fail - Jemima (3) is usually in our bed when we get up (that's a whole other thread.....) so she just wakes naturally as we are getting ready for work.

I have a feeling Jemima would sleep later if she were in her room because she often sleeps through us showering/drying hair etc (i.e. she pulls the duvet over her head!!!) but we won't know until we attempt to crack getting her to stay in her own bed, at the moment its not bothering me enough to try (lazy mummy!).

p.s. these timings work perfectly as we have to be out the house by 7:20am and I'm up at 5:00am going for a run 3 times a week!

Re: How do you get your young children up in the mornings?

Most mornings they are up and either playing in their room or in our bed On the odd occasion I DO have to wake them then I tend to put their light on full and then go back in a few mins later. If I have to wake them they are both really slow of a morning so we needs LOTS of time to come round and get ready. Choc Lips I am in AWE that you can get yours up at 7am and be out the door by 7.30am!! It takes Serena that long to eat her breakfast
Just give me a block, I'm gonna be fine..........

DS and I both wake up around 7am including weekends, it is rare that I have to wake him but it has happened once or twice.

Both of us are late to bed but early to rise, we just don't need much sleep.

Both my DD's are up by 6am most days. Very occassionally DD1 will sleep in until 7am but that is very rare. Tbh I don't need to set my alarm Although I always do.

Mine both have clocks and know how to recognise 7 o'clock. They know if they wake up before they can go to the loo but then go back to their rooms. I go in at about 7.15 and normally find DD1 reading in bed and DD2 playing in her room . I probably have to wake them about twice a week, in which case I leave it til nearer 7.30, then I go in quietly singing and open the curtains. I sit on the bed and wait for my hug.

Both of mine wake up when they hear OH get up for a shower at 6.30am in the week (probably cos he's really heavy footed and doesn't get the concept of being quiet!).

At the weekend, they will both generally sleep until 8am, then E will go and get S from her cot and they both go play in playroom. This gives me about half an hour dozing/listening to them playing until they have a fight and I have to go and feed them.

Mine are always up before 7, even if they've been up late.

I don't think I've ever had to wake dd1, and dd2 only once or twice.

Weekends are no different, they get up at the same time whether we have to be anywhere or not..

On school mornings if they aren't awake by 7.30am I go in and open blinds / curtains and that generally works a treat !
