It is very difficult. We would be in trouble if we had a third

My husband is called Tristan and it is Christopher's middle name but I can see why it might not automatically spring to mind

I have no idea what we'd do if we had another boy as we used up both grandfathers' names this time, and if we had a girl there aren't any nice family names we both like and that aren't already taken by cousins (so it would be confusing). I can't see Mr S wanting to use my mum's name and his mum's name is really old-fashioned (from the time of Vera and Beryl).

And one of my favourite family names for a boy is almost the same as Mr S's surname (think James and Jameson).

I know you don't have to use family names if you did already but it seems more "fair" somehow, if you are saddled with a long unusual name (long names go better with Mr S's surname and it's also very common so it kind of has to be unusual).

Two middles names? You're a sucker for punishment - the girls have the same middle name, and that's mine, because I ran out of inspiration!!

This time round there were so many names I loved, which OH didn't...

Wilfred, Alfred, Albert, Bertie, Heath, Monty (thought it sounded like a squadron leader!) - I also liked Tristan too... and then you get bored of talking about it!

    What about Sebastian, Nathan, Benedict?

For girls at the moment I really like Old Testament names - Miriam, Ruth, Naomi, Esther.
