Lost the house we wanted :-(

Went to put offer in yesterday on our first choice house and it sold 10days ago gutted

Couldn't have put it in before as had to wait for couple things

We had a as Second choice which we Have compared particulars and looked at it again (we compromise a little on couple things but gain in other aspects)offer in but first offer has been turned down.i know what they want but that's top figure of what we would pay for that house! And only 2.5k below asking. Gah

Apart from these 2 we want nothing else on market just now - I've viewed 16! We like a few other houses but we have 100% agreed on location and both agree this can't be a compromise as we are buying where we are for schooling as its a good area for schools from infants right through to seniors

    Sigh!

    I don't like this part :-s

Dh has said to raise offer but not to what we will pay top/they want - more of a meet in middle offer - I think they may still reject it :-s

    Fingers crossed all please!

We had to pay the asking price for our house in the end - we really wanted it so just kept offering until they accepted.

Gah, that's rubbish. We had a purchase fall through and it's a right pain. On the plus side better to happen now than once you've started paying for things.

Is there no flexibility on schools? It's a long time until you need to worry about secondary and plenty can happen to a school in that time. Might be worth visiting a couple as I found reputation isn't everything.

Only if we pushed to next price band which is what we will do if don't get this one there would be some other houses.i think we would offer again of they reject again but will see what dh says

I've visited 2 infant schools and the feeder juniors and I like both but really don't like one junior one of them feeds to which is biggest reason for location we have chose even though both juniors have same reputation. both would be same senior school-out of catchment for top senior school as its so over subscribed you need to practically live next door!this one is 2nd best and has great results etc but tbh don't want top one really anyway as its a bit of a status thing rather than school this senior seems to actually want to teach the pupils rather than just look good

So really do want this area

Shame there is only one junior school you like as that will make it a bit trickier. You never know though, maybe they'll get a new head?
