Does anyone have a smart car?

i'm thinking of getting one. What are they like to drive? Are they good on petrol, and what do you pay for insurance?

I have, they're great cars, I had a For2 for 6 years, it was a Mk1 and a left hand drive, I've now got a LHD Smart Roadster which I've had coming up 6 years, they're both fun to drive and very safe and the For2 is suprisingly spacious.

Would you be loking at getting a brand new one or a second hand?

The diesel versions get the best MPG, my roadster averages around 45mpg at the moment but I don't drive it very economically.

Insurancewise they're not too bad, I pay around £350 a year fully comp

The best place to go for info is the forum on www.smartmaniacs.com, if you're looking to buy second hand it's a good place to find a well looked after car as well and you can get discounts on servicing and insurance by becoming a site supporter.

thanks. I've just done a couple of insurance quotes cheapest £555 a year most expensive £3599!!!

would def be getting 2nd hand. thanks i'll have a look at the site

Not a smart but we have a toyota IQ which is smart-esque

We love it, no car tax and insurance is about £19 for us fully comp and the fuel economy is good too

i've got the wee Fiat 500 1.2 petrol sport.... its really cheap to run..£35 to fill my tank which lasts 2 weeks and drive a fair bit. £190 fully comp protected for insurance... £30 for road tax... i absolutley love it!! xx
