How much do you spend on birthdays?
Just pondering really...
R is 3 on Sunday and have just been wrapping her presents. She's got 6 presents (the largest is a scooter, the smallest some hair bits) which cost in total less than £50.
One part of me thinks it's good that's she's not being spoilt, money wise (especially as she'll also get presents from friends and family), but the other part thinks that £50 isn't much.
She's having a party too, which will cost under £100 I guess(with hall hire, food etc).
So, how much do you spend?

Re: How much do you spend on birthdays?
About £100, depending on what they want / need. We usually shop around and rarely pay full price for everything though.
For Em's birthday (she was 2) she had a Baby Born doll, a three-wheeler buggy (on special offer), a Hello Kitty backpack (cheap from H&M) and a new outfit.
M had a couple of Star Wars ships (one on offer, one vintage one from eBay), a small Lego Star Wars set, some Star Wars books (from Book People) and clothes.Jedi Boy is 6, the Little Princess is 3....

Re: How much do you spend on birthdays?
I budget for £50 - I am separated from their Dad though so they also get something from him so I don't feel I need to spend any more, especially as they have far too much as it is. I don't do parties either
- just family over to the house and maybe do a small buffet or nibbles.

About £100 on presents I think, I can't say I have a budget or set figure in mind.
The party is another thing altogether
That was an expensive two hours.

Varys depending in what I'm buying. Around £100 it's been bikes & DS's past few years. This year he wants a iPod touch
Zachs 1st birthday I spent just over £100

Re: How much do you spend on birthdays?
It's hard to do a parry for Under £100.
At 3 money is irrelevant so I wouldn't worry about spending "only £50".
Dd2 had about £20 total in presents last year (4), party was £80 (unusual circumstances) & dd1 (7) was about £40 & party was £70 (but only because manager was our friend).

No set amount.
DS is getting a BMX £100, scooter £20 (old one broke), Primeval DVDs, some reduced Lego and a couple of books and some chocolate.
DD is getting a Peppa Pig World (£30 but found it for £15), 16 Peppa Pig books (£15), Peppa pig lollies and Percy Pig sweets, DVD (£4). I have only spent £36 on her. I might get some PJs/clothes just so she has another present. I don't see the point of buying things for the sake of it. She doesn't need/want anything else.DS July 2003, DD1 January 2005, DD2 August 2008
