Q about pubes, midwives and c-sections
Random title i know. My lady garden is rather unkempt at the moment, having been a number of months since I could last see it without looking in the mirror. I've been assuming that midwives see highly unkempt lady gardens all the time, but yesterday after
DH remarked that he felt like Moses parting the red sea
which has me wondering perhaps if I ought to get the lady strimmer out and try and make it more presentable? DH is concerned the midwives won't be able to see what they're doing
Secondly is it true that if you end up having a c-section they dry shave your pubes off the top bit
Just wondering whether I might pre-empt and remove the hair myself (although hoping not to have a section obviously!)

Re: Q about pubes, midwives and c-sections
Yeah, if you go for a section (planned or emergency) they'll use a dispo Bic type razor to clear the top of your lawn
out of the way as they prep you for surgery... I've never found it a problem, but I guess if you had particularly sensitive skin or something you might want to sort the job beforehand...
As far as midwives go, I'm pretty sure they see it all and I've certainly never felt the need to prune ahead of time!

Re: Q about pubes, midwives and c-sections
I'm going to keep the area as tidy as I can. I've still been having waxes but couldn't manage my usual brazillian last time so she just did a tidy up!
I can't see my area any more so had to get DH to trim me at the weekend as I can't do it looking in the mirror!
I'm sure they've seen it all though!

I used to use dh's beard trimmer, he wasn't impressed once he found out but the thought of taking a razor to where I couldn't see wasn't appealing.
I was going to aquanatal so always did a weekly trim anyway but I'm sure midwives deal with a lot worse than unkept lady gardens. One of my best friend's wee'd over her midwife, this was after her dd had been born. They wanted to stitch her and she kept saying she really needed to go and they wouldn't let her.
As for the csection, I'm sure the painkillers would help any shaving rash pain and sudocreme is brilliant for sorting it out quickly so I wouldn't worry too much.Stropy x

Re: Q about pubes, midwives and c-sections
At 9 months pregnant i had given up on having a tidy bush, leading up to birth every now and then i would think i really should attmept to sort that out but never got round to it.
Then when it was time for the emergency c section the midwife whipped out the razor did a quick shave and then i was on way to theatre.... I do remember getting a slight stubble rash down there! But I was so tired, overwhelmed, worried about the sitches etc i didnt think about it.

Re: Q about pubes, midwives and c-sections
I was soooo hairy - my legs, pubes, everything

. I think I was in denial that I might go into labour on my due date
. It didn't matter at all (although I didn't have a CS), I did apologise to the midwife after when I was delivering the placenta as I got out of the pool for that and she was like "oh, don't worry at all - it doesn't matter!".

It might be better to have a tidy up to reduce the *ahem* mess factor post birth. But I wouldn't stress about it.

The midwives will barely register the state of your pubes, I assure you!
