My son also ensued to be put down when he was tiny. At first he slept on one of us and then next to us in the bed - a sling was my saviour in the daytime! He transitioned into his crib no problem after a while.
For now I would say just go with what is easiest for you all. By all means keep trying him in his crib, but seriously, don't stress if he won't as it won't be forever. I promise that you absolutely can't 'spoil' him at this age, no matter what anyone tries to tell you.

"Newborn only wants us"
Congratulations! And for the record, I think it is perfectly normal for a newborn to only want its parents

Re: Newborn only wants us
Thanks so much for the fabulous replies. From the first person to reply to me I stopped stressing about having a child that sleeps in the bed with us and relaxed a bit. Of course he just wants us- I just hadn't realised it!
Today has been so much better- at 5am-ish I slept on my left hand side with him curled up beside me- on the bed but still near to my warmth. I managed to get 3 or 4 hrs sleep and feel so much better. Tried this again at 4pm for an hour- all great. He fed at about 5.30 and has been snoozing on a pillow- away from me for about 3/4 of an hour quite happily. Ive been popping him in the crib for the odd 5 mins too whilst I change or potter round. He seems quite good at lying there with his eyes open thinking a bit!
I guess just take every day at a time- he changes by the hour!
Couldn't have done this without Damsels
