Re: Wht age to get a girl's ears pierced?
My DD is desperate to get hers done, and I may let her at the beginning of the summer, I haven't decided yet, she has been asking since she was 6!

Re: Wht age to get a girl's ears pierced?
I had mine pierced for my 7th birhday. That was the late 70s and I think there's a tendency for people to defer it until they're 11 or so now.
I do remember my ears being terribly sore and weepy

My dd1 had hers done at the end of Year 3. All of her friends were having it done and it actually looked very pretty, she had tiny little pink stones in there. I was surprised at how much i liked them as i was against her having them done. She was fine looking after them. She rarely wears earrings now though.
If dd2 really wants them done she can have them done but she hasn't asked. She's a very young 6 anyway so I don't think it'll be anytime soon.
Those of you who say you'll wait until your child's a teen - I can't imagine my dd1 just accepting a "no" about something so small as ear piercing - she'd have just done it anyway!

Re: Wht age to get a girl's ears pierced?
I'm thinking 10/11 for my girls, dependent on whether they ask (it's not a conversation we've had yet, eldest is 7). I don't care if her friends get theirs done earlier!

Re: Wht age to get a girl's ears pierced?
My DD had hers done about a year ago, when she was 5, she asked if she could have them done she has small studs with a pink stone and was fine having them done and has been ever since, think I was about a similar age.
I really don't get why some people are so against it till their daughters are older, but then again maybe I am abit more laid back about these things!

Re: Wht age to get a girl's ears pierced?
I just see it as a pain in the ass, I'm not against it as such. When she can take responsibility for brushing her hair & teeth without prompting then she can have the responsibility of taking care of piercings too.
She's only mentioned it once so I don't think it's something she desperately wants and like I said before, her appearance is low on her priority list.

Re: Wht age to get a girl's ears pierced?
I'm not "against" it as such, more I don't see the need to be poking unnecessary holes in children before teenage years (and not really even then
), and personally I just don't like how it looks on children. If after the age of 9 or so she was desperate, I'd consider it.
Kate, I thought children under a certain age had to have parental permission to have any piercings?

Re: Wht age to get a girl's ears pierced?
Well, I had hoped to hold out, and was aiming for 10 (I had mine done at 14 after YEARS of nagging
) but I think I'm going to cave and if she keeps asking I'll let her have them done for her 9th birthday later this year.
Pretty much every single one of her friends has pierced ears (some from very young), so it's hard to give a good reason not to, tbh!Mum to dd (age 9) and ds (age 7)
