    And Trinity?
Neo and Trinity are from The Matrix trilogy.

My cousin's son is called Nio, but he's Japanese and the name has a special meaning, though I can't remember what it is

Axel/Axl is relatively common in Germany and Scandinavian countries, isn't it?

    Re: Come on, own up........

My grandmother had an unusual name, because her mother was a bit pretentious and didn't want her child to have a "common" name. Trouble was, she didn't know how to pronounce the name (Essyllt) properly, and neither did my grandmother. It's Welsh I believe, and probably sounds lovely when pronounced properly, but my grandmother ended up being called Sally because pretty much everyone can say that!

Is that a welsh version of Yseult, I wonder? How do you pronounce it properly?

I though Yseult was also Welsh?? And yes Essyllt is a form of that name...I'd pronounce it Es ilht, but not 100% sure if that is right.

    Re: Come on, own up........

To me it looks Welsh which is why I assumed it was, we have lots of names/places etc with the ys beginning. It may very well be French though, there are quite a few similarities between French and Welsh - I remember getting the word for window wrong in my french and welsh exams at school because they are so similar.

    Re: Come on, own up........

Seems it could be Irish (Yseult not Essyllt).

    Re: Come on, own up........

Spent the last half an hour googling this Damz and am still none the wiser - can find it listed under Irish and French names, with similar meanings....but likely it is French and Iseult (or the variations) are Irish (because of the y letter apparantly).

Essylt is a Welsh name. I worked with a girl of that name. It is pronounced Es-icht (well, that is the closest anyone could come as a non-Welsh speaker).
