Re: How early do you let your child go to bed if they got up ridiculously early that morning?
I never realised that the early waking was part of the autism? DS never sleeps past 5am. Only if he has gone to bed ridiculously late due to a party or somethin and even then it's maybe 6 at the latest.
I am dreading the summer and getting up at 5 every day.
At the moment he is up at 5 for school anyway, so no problem and weekends, mum is usually up. Gah, you learn something new everyday..

I knw banana tree..it's painful, especially when it's so light! It doesn't seem to make a difference what time he goes to bed either. Whenever he has a growth spurt it seems to make him sleep for longer!
if you speak to your doctor they can help with the sleep...occasionally we use phenergan if we've had no sleep for ages and that really makes a difference. Melatonin I think has to be prescribed through the peadtrician but is good for helping an autistic child "switch off" Thomas just couldn't switch off no matter how tired he was and we couldn't leave him to self settle.
Oscar lasted till 6.30, literally couldn't keep him awake any longer so hopefully he'll stay asleep.
