Imigran is the best thing OTC, although you'll have to fill in a questionnaire before yu can buy it. Migraleve pink is pretty good too (both pharmacy only).

Re: What can I take for a migraine?
I've found co-codamol quite effective for migraines, but it often depends on how quickly I take it when I feel a migraine coming on. I don't know if it's easy to buy if you don't have a pharmacy open this late near you

Obviously you can't take it within a few hours of any other paracetamol-containing product (little disclaimer).
Nurofen Migraine Pain tablets are worth a pop if you can't get co-codamol. I've used 4head stuff that you rub on your temples, and while I don't think it made thepain/sickness go away, it did soothe a little.
Other than a lie down in a dark room with a cool, damp flannel nearby for cooling your eyes, I don't know what else to suggest I'm afraid
Hope you feel better soon

Re: What can I take for a migraine?
Imigran (I get on prescription) but to be fair you have to take it as soon as an attack comes on, otherwise it is useless.
For me, it's pink migraleve, a darkened room and as much silence as I can get.Mum, writer, occasional nutcase.

Re: What can I take for a migraine?
Nothing works for me once it's already taken hold. I know the warning sign of zig-zaggy peripheral vision now so take paracetamol quickly, lie down somewhere quiet and wait for it to pass. I do get an awful pain still but it passes much quicker that way than trying to ride it out. I might get some Migraleve in the house ready to try next time.

Re: What can I take for a migraine?
A few years back I was seeing a neurologist regarding on ongoing brain thing I have. i mentioned that I had been suffering from pretty awful migraines.
The doctor told me that the most effective treatment in his opinion was as soon as you feel an attack coming on take motilium (over the counter anti sickness medication) and then a low dose tummy friendly soluable aspirin. Incredibly it TOTALLY stops a migraine taking hold. I couldn't believe it.
I hope you feel better soon Anne.
