Re: Summer 2012 Babies!!
Hello...reporting for duty

How are you all getting on? I'm really enjoying Sebastian - he's cries so much less than my girls did. Not sure if this is because of the way he is, or if I'm more relaxed, or he's going to turn in to a different baby tomorrow. Either way, I'm enjoying it!
Tomorrow OH goes back to work, so I'm going to be managing on my own...fingers crossed calm will reign. I've got something to do every day to keep busy, so my 4 year old can keep busy - and I find it easier when I'm out and about with the baby too.
How are your days panning out? Are you all b/feeding still? Getting any sleep?
xx

Morning all! Hope all the other summer babies and mum are doing ok. I think I'm going to ask to be discharged today
I've had three nights in hospital now, although the first one was mostly spent in recovery after the surgery. Second night here was just horrific - she started screaming about 5pm and unless she was attached to a boob she screamed until 5.30 the following morning when she suddenly fell asleep in my arms and I didn't dare move for the next hour (was lying really uncomfortably too) until a midwife came into give me some painkillers and put her in the cot. I rang the bell 12 times that night
I was coevinced that there wasn't anything in my boobs for her and that she was screaming in hunger, but apparently it's one of those things babies do sometimes
DH arranged for the breastfeeding midwife to see me yesterday and she was amazing
sat with me for every feed and showed me a different position (like a rugby ball). I knew the basics of latching but didn't really have a clue beyond that about feeding. So it was loads better yesterday and we had a much more settled night last night. Well, she slept loads - I still only had a couple of hours as every time she squeaked I worried she was about start doing her relentless screaming again. I slept from about 4-6.20am when she midwife woke me up for painkillers. Going to have a bit more sleep in a minute before DH arrives. Do have lots more to say, including a name, but too sleepy now so will finish updating later.

Bubba sweet it will all just click shortly the first few nights with ds I was checking him every 2 seconds that he was breathing not too hot etc etc totally normal and especially do after a traumatic delivery - I had one with ds too
With dd I got my head down as soon as I got the chance even took feeding as a dozing opportunity!
Don't worry about ringing the bell that is why you are given one! Or the screaming from my 2 experiences on the post natal ward she wouldn't have been alone!with dd and ds I was lucky that mine slept but with dd there were 3 babies at it all night
Congratulations look forward to name

Re: Summer 2012 Babies!!
Wow so this is where we belong now

Hi Bubbasweet, your time in hospital sounds very similar to mine. Alastair only wanted to be attached to us for the first couple of days. Hope you are getting home very soon. I felt happier at home and more comfortable. Don't worry about the crying- A cried the first night for 3 hours solid- I said to the midwife that I was worried about disturbing all the others and she just shrugged her shoulders saying that it "is the way of a maternity ward"!!
Don't worry about thinking that nothing is coming out of the boobs- my milk didn't come in until the 4th or 5th day and I was convinced that nothing was coming out. Even a few drops of colostrom is all they need. I used the lanosil (sp) cream before and after each feed and my boobs seem to be holding up! Each day you will feel a little bit better after the section- I still feel a little tender and struggle to sit up in bed or sneeze but apart from that I feel ok. Look forward to hearing lots of details later
I turned a corner after they took the stitches out on day 5.
Posie, how is Sebastian? is he still pretty chilled out? Do you have any nicknames for him? We have many for A, 'the poo machine' being the latest!
Superkat how is Charlie? Does he sleep any longer the older he gets?
We had a couple of rough nights here followed by a great night last night so I guess it is a roller coaster journey. I am learning what Alastair needs/wants by the faces/reactions that he shows! Have been out in the park a couple of times and got chatting to some local Mums. Its amazing how many people chat to you with a baby. Had a couple of grannies chasing us in the park asking how old the baby was
Love to all and am pleased to join Summer Mummies at last
