Re: Summer 2012 Babies!!
H Superkat, Charlie sounds like he is thriving- are boys more 'gutsy'- Al is now quite bolshy on the boob, he can grab the nipple flick it out of his moutand catch it again playfully! Ouch!
Glad you had a better night Bubbasweet. Good luck with the pumping!
Pretty exhausted here- A fed pretty much every hour from 12-6 until OH took over. I wonder if he is on a growth spurt? He's sleeping angelically in his bouncy chair & I wish I was curled up in there too!
Looking forward to hearing more about the summer Mummies progress.

Re: Summer 2012 Babies!!
Afternoon all -
I second expressing and getting OH to do a bottle, although we've only done it once with Sebastian, I did it regularly with my other two. I'm going for his first bottle of formula for the 10pm feed tonight, as I really can't be arsed with the expressing...he's 4 weeks tomorrow, and has been exclusively breast fed up until this point, so happy with that. I intend to keep going until 12 weeks...
I can't remember who asked about routine, but I like having one. It helps me work out why he might be crying too - knowing when he was fed, slept etc...Sebastian basically fell in to the contented baby routines (which I knew from my previous two) and seems really happy (and content!) in them.
He feeds at approx 7am, 10am, 2pm, 5pm, 615pm and 10pm.
He generally sleeps between 830 - 10, 11ish - 2 and 3.30ish - 5...then goes to bed after a bath about 630. Most evenings he'll sleep then until the morning - apart from waking for feeds. Usually it's around 2am and 5am, but last night he fed more in the evening, as he was overtired when I tried to settle him in bed (missed my window of opportunity!) and so I fed him last at 930pm and he didn't wake up for another feed until 4.30
Then again at 630.
That said - today he's been all over the place with his sleeps
We're off to pick up Lily from school shortly, and he's lying next to me on the couch kicking his legs. I suspect he'll be out like a light as soon as I put him in the pushchair (hurray)
Peridot - how are you feeling?
Bubba - I think opt for whatever will give you the most sleep. I now feed Sebastian in the nursery in the night, as OH is back at work, but he always gets him up in the morning and makes me a cuppa. Happy with that deal!
I wish this rain would go away - makes it very difficult to amuse my 4 year old all day...
Good to see how you're all doing!!

Reading that back I sound like a robot
We differ from those times on a daily basis, if he's cranky and wants an extra feed - or extra sleepy. But those are the times we tend to hover around..!!

Re: Summer 2012 Babies!!
It's interesting to read what Sebastian is up to Posie. I'm hoping that Alexa will develop some sort of routine in the next few weeks. I'm a fairly laid-back sort of person generally, but I'd like to be able to be in a situation where I can reliably know what is going to happen when. I'd rather not be winging it totally and be able to get out of the house at some point. I should think babies probably quite like knowing what is happening when too?
Midwife has just been and Alexa has gained half a pound
I nearly fell off my chair
All that feeding has been worth it then!
We're going to the breastfeeding clinic tomorrow morning and I'm already having kittens about how we're going to get out of the house in time

Re: Summer 2012 Babies!!
I've found that i'm actually getting places early i'm so scared of getting there late, which is so unlike me!
For me, ithe routine helps me to look out for when he might be overtired or hungry or something else. It fits with the baby whisperer 3 hourly feed, play, sleep routine she suggests too.
Is anyone else irritable with their OH? I'm terrible at the moment...he's taking it very well, and I'm putting it down to interrupted sleep, 3 kids and a huge adjustment to our lives (first time with a newborn together). We've just had a good chat about it all so I hope that's cleared the air!
That's a great weight gain Bubba! I haven't had Sebastian weighed since the HV visit 2 weeks ago, so I'm intrigued to know how much he weighs now...what was Alexa's birth weight in the end?

She was 6lbs 8ozs. Can't believe she's a week old already! She's a right greedy guts - I don't know where she puts it all.

Do any of the other babies get a slightly stoned look when they've finished feeding? It's as if Alexa is saying "Man that milk is just so good" as she slumps to one side. Makes me chuckle every time I feed her

Re: Summer 2012 Babies!!
I have absolutely no hope of getting anywhere at any time on the near future! The moment I even think about a shower the pooh machine performs or demands!!
Same here Bubbasweet, I have a very drunk little man after feeding which is hilarious. He goes all limp & squiffy- I feel cruel having to wind him as he is so sleepy.

I've pumped some milk this evening just as an experiment. Managed to get 90Mrs off in about 15 minutes. No idea if that's good or not? And not sure if she'll take a bottle or not either.
