Nightrider!

Just a quick update to say that I, squeaker's husband and 6 others successfully completed the Nightrider this weekend! 100km (around 65 miles in total we think, although my bike computer decided to break on the way there) through the streets of London overnight, with about 3000 others. We raised around £3k for Camille's Appeal, a massive thanks to those who sponsored and supported us.

I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it - the cycling was pretty easy (except for 3 huge hills that many of us walked up) and it was fascinating cycling through the streets of London during the night. We cycled past Docklands, the Barbican, Canary Wharf, over the Thames 4 times, Arsenal, Covent Garden, the West End, Ally Pally, the Albert Hall...was an amazing experience to see London at night and in all it's glory.

I think some of us will be doing it again next year, it really was a fun and satisfying experience - and not nearly as hard as it sounds! So if any of you fancy doing it then keep an eye on the Camille's Appeal website in a few months for more news.

Thanks all, it was heaps of fun especially going down hills really fast and overtaking buses and cars!

Miss Jane, we were gone for 8.5 hrs but stopped every 20km for food and drink, and stopped a few times to take photos. Reckon ride-time was about 7 hrs, although probably half an hour of that was walking and stopped at traffic lights. Squeakers dh did the whole thing in 6.5hrs!
I trained 3 times a week for the last 6 weeks, cycling between 10 and 25 miles each time. Made the ride itself much easier and meant that I'm not suffering now!
