Re: I really need some moving house help. Please!

We are moving on Thursday and have had 10 days from exchange to completion.
we using removals but doing our own packing, removal company are providing boxes and bubble wrap, tape etc.
so, I started in our room, like others say with books and clothes and shoes I won't use...same with beauty type products.
ive done the same with the boys room, they have hundreds of books and only a few that are favourites so I have packed them and the toys they don't use on a daily basis.
i have thought abou meals for the next 10 days and packed any ingredient (store cupboard type stuff) that I won't need, same with glasses, mugs, and sme pans and oven dishes etc.
all the DVDs packed up, lots of DH's computer stuff..it's actually amazing how much stuff we don't use that often. 4 more sleeps and I'd say we're 75% packed so not so stressed now.
oooh also packed things like spare towels, bedding, holiday stuff etc and I'm just trying to keep the house as tidy and organised as possible.
ive bought some of those big rubber tubs from tesco which are about £3 each that I can pack on the actual day for things like fridge stuff and bathroom stuff etc.
weve also had a huge loft clear out and chucked so much out. I'd say it's only been today I've been feeling less stressed about getting it all done as we can now have lots packed without needing it, it's been good having a bit longer than the norm as we've chucked/charity shopped loads!
    Good luck :)

    Good luck Thursday Peridot!

I've made a start on toys this morning, although its hard as Ethan is home all the time & does actually play with EVERYTHING

Going to do some kitchen cupboards when dh FINALLY makes it home from Download later (but that's a whole other rant )

The other tricky bit is we're selling to a mum from school so it all has to be spotless or she'll be telling everyone what a slob I am

Pretty much this but we put everything in the conservatory. I had a list on the computer of what was in each box (of course on the morning another 10 boxes went in with last minute things
Like Donna the removal company had wardrobe boxes so you don't need to pack them and I also left drawers full if it was just light clothing, tops etc and taped the drawer shut.

    It was surprisingly cheap!

I was surprised how cheap the packing was, I think we payed £600ish for moving house but to pack up the whole house was only another £150. Unfortunately we couldn't stretch to it but I thought it was quite reasonable.

Everytime I have moved I pack only a couple of days before, prior to that I write lists and organise all the stuff that I need - ie get loads of boxes, tape, marker pens, bubble wrap, newspaper etc. Then on the day that I start I do one room at a time and literally pack everything in that room - last time I did it the day before and it really didn't take too long because i was packing everything and not hving to think about what to leave for a few days.
