Kelp- anyone tried it?
Ocado sells some sort of kelp stuff which apparently is very tasty- you use it to replace salt, as seasoning, in cooking etc.
I was toying with trying a kelp supplement as I am feeling permanently shattered, down, struggling to lose weight, and other thyroidy type stuff. However I can't even be arsed to haul myself to the GP, and always feel like such a malingerer when it all comes back ok
I get salt cravings a lot as well, and I don't eat much iodine rich foods anyway (I have pretty much a no-salt diet). So I wondered if this might satisfy the salt thing, and give my thyroid a boost.
Any ideas/experiences?

Kelp is really effective for boosting a sluggish thyroid and so for boosting your metabolism in general. Don't take it if you have high blood pressure though
. Why don't you eat salt?

Re: Kelp- anyone tried it?
My husband eats kelp, as well as other types of dried seaweed. Here in the arse end of nowhere it's traditional, apparently, but IMO kelp is minging. Seafood in general contains iodine, doesn't it?

Re: Kelp- anyone tried it?
Thanks

I don't eat seafood or fish at all. I have tried and tried but I just can't bring myself to like it. It's a texture thing as much as the fishy ness.
Not eating salt, I'm just not in the habit. A close relative died suddenly of a congenital heart issue when I was young, we were all screened and also given a diet sheet, told to cut out salt etc. I suppose it had a lasting impression. I have salt on chips of course, but that's the only time I add it to my food.
My blood pressure is fine (probably a side effect of the above
). I thought I read kelp can lower blood pressure though?
I think I might give it a go and add it to my next shop. Are any particular brands/species better or does it just have to be kelp...
