I completed my self assessment for tax last night and sorted out our tax credits renewal.
While I have DH's P60 I am going I type a letter to claim the tax allowance for washing uniform. I read about it on MSE but have never got round to writing to them.DS July 2003, DD1 January 2005, DD2 August 2008

Re: Money Saving Thread
Not even a pound shop? Or Wilkinsons?
I've picked up quite a few bits in Home Bargains lately. Some stuff has been almost half the supermarket price. They're also good for toys, if a bit hit & miss. I've had a few birthday presents from there.
If anyone is looking for birthday presents for kids then early learning has a sale on and 3 for 2 on garden toys.

We need to cut back, we normally meal plan but haven't done it for a few weeks and I can tell as we are spending far more than normal and wasting stuff, my pet hate. I'm nipping to Home Bargains this morning to stock up on T-Rolls

I've had a look and there's a farm foods about three miles away but but its somewhere I've no reason to go otherwise, I'd have to pay to park etc. What do they sell in there? I couldn't really see anything other than pictures of ready meals on their website. We've got a Wilkos in town so will have a look next time I'm there, although I'm not sure I've seen many foodstuffs in ours
Will have investigate!

I don't rate our farm foods at all. It's like an even povvier version of Iceland and without any fresh stuff at all. Maybe they are better in some areas? Wilkos doesn't have much food stuff, but they are cheaper for toiletries, cleaning, gardening and general household stuff.

Bubba you can save quite a bit by buying when things are on offer. Heinz ketchup is a £1 in Sainsburys just now along with a ton of other stuff.
Asda is good to subscribe to as well. I always stick up during their baby events and cleaning product promotions.

Re: Money Saving Thread
I've started buying only own brand stuff now, and tbh can't notice any difference (no dietary requirements for us though) with the taste/quality but do notice it on the price!! I shop a lot at Sainsburys and I did try Aldi this week but worked out that I pay the same price in Sainsburys so no real difference except that it is an hours walk away (I am walking everywhere even carrying the shopping, staying fit and saving money).
I don't think there is one branded product that I use now, all my cleaning stuff I get from Poundland including toilet paper -6 rolls for a £1 and they were soft!!

Well nothing anywhere near me last time I checked. Bit annoying really!
