I plan in buying the Graco Mirage Plus Travel System - confused about rear and forward facing car seats
I want to buy the car seat base but some are forward facing, some are rear facing. I remember my sister telling me something about certain ages of child should be facing front or back but can't find any decent info about this online.
Can anyone explain it to me?
Thanks,

Rear facing as long as possible. ROSPA have a good site.

Carseats for newborns are only ever rear facing. They can go forward facing when they grow out of the infant car seat (dependent on the babys weight) but it is now being advised to keep them rear facing as long as possible.

We've been investigating this and a lot of the rear facing seats are very hard to install correctly, so we are thinking of the Kiddy ones that have a cushion instead of straps, as they are supposed to be easier.
He's currently in a stage 0 but it only goes to 9 kg so we will probably use a slightly more flexible but similar one for a bit in between - so rear facing till about 13kg and then the Kiddy seat.

What everyone else says about rear-facing.
However, have you tried the pram in person? Some gracos (not sure about that one) can be tank like to push.

So if you buy the Graco Travel system you will need a car seat like the one shown here:

And if you buy the Graco system, you will ditch it for a lightweight stroller within six months.. :)

Re: I plan in buying the Graco Mirage Plus Travel System - confused about rear and forward facing car seats
Thank you everyone, I can see it says rear facing in some of the blurb now so that's fine.
Well I ordered it based on excellent reviews and the fact that my sis is giving me another pushchair so I can mix it up a bit. Everyone seems to say its lightweight so ill have to wait and see

Re: I plan in buying the Graco Mirage Plus Travel System - confused about rear and forward facing car seats
Ha ha, I only really post on the November mums thread so I.forget there's a world out here lol.
I am 17 weeks on Friday, no bump yet, just a slight paunch
I shall sort a ticker out when I get on the proper computer and off my phone.
Were moving into the new house in a month so ill be prattling on about.nursery related nonsense. Managed to buy a cot for a tenner over the weekend, so we're going for some old and some new, I don't want to throw huge amounts of money at things the baby will either only need for a few months or not really.need at all.
