Re: Sudden v heavy period, probably way TMI, please advise if you can
Thanks again for the replies

I'm not sure when our doctors are open this week, probably Wednesday, I'll give them a call and get an appointment to see someone. I couldn't cope with this too often, I've slept most of the afternoon and I still feel knackered.

Thanks Bop. Since the big clot it's back to a normal flow by my standards, if it starts up again I will definitely call someone.

I really would be tempted to call the out of hours doctor. That is a really big clot and given there is a very slim chance of pregnancy given your husbands vasectamy I would be concerned at what's behind the really heavy flow. It sounds similar to a haemorrhage that a friend of mine had.

How are you doing now?
I would definitely get some medical advice if it's still happening.
I know it's different but I had something similar happen a couple weeks after having DD. Lochia had really slowed down but then everything happened you described. I called the midwife who told me the clot had stopped the womb contracting properly and once it was out then things would probably slow down again and they did.
Wonder if it's a similar thing for you?
Hope you are ok now. xxDS born April 2007

Re: Sudden v heavy period, probably way TMI, please advise if you can
Everything seems normal this morning, and has been since the monster clot. I'm still going to go in and see someone though. I've been thinking about getting a prescription for transexamic acid anyway (I think that's what it's called, I had it when I was younger) for my heavy days as depending on what day it happens it can be quite disruptive. Thanks for the replies and support on here, much appreciated ladies

Transexamic acid - love it! Is that a pill that makes you change sex?!
Just kidding, I take it too, although only helps to a certain extent now.
Glad you are better xx

You can actually buy tranaexamic acid over the counter - but it is cheaper on prescription (you get more in the box!). It has changed my life and given me 5 days a month back. I hope you find it helps.
