Princess fiona or Anne?catchment school advice if you don't mind as know your in area

    Hi

I know pf lives in my area but for some reason I think Anne does too?

    Shirley Solihull?

We are about to buy and it's between 2 houses and both have outstanding infant schools and both are within a mile of outstanding junior school

However one house also has a 3 graded infant school at same distance as the 2 outstanding infant schools it has - all 3 0.6miles but the 3 graded is across Stratford rd and into Shirley Heath really.the junior schools for this house are both outstanding

The other has 3 outstanding infant schools but the junior age 7-11 school has one outstanding but another graded 3 exact same distance

Really unsure - do you have a better idea of how they do catchment/place allocation in this area or who to contact ?

Phone your council/check their website. All schools info will be there.

Also bear in mind that you have a couple of years before max starts school- I'd beware of schools that are outstanding now, but might be on their way down. Better to look at the good schools, who may improve still.

Our local outstanding school I went to visit and definitely got the sense that they were resting on their laurels, they'd got their outstanding and were all smuggy smug. Sure enough, the next year, when DD would have been in reception, they were downgraded , and haven't improved in the 3 years since.

Oh yeah I expect they may change but to good I'm happy with really but sort of figure they may only go to good as he would start at infant schools at 3

There doesn't appear to be anything in between outstanding then odd graded 3 one - just weighing up which house is mostly likely to get both a outstanding/good infant and a junior school

I know there are no guarantees as its to do with numbers siblings etc too

Will have a look on council thanks x

The best thing to do is going into Solihull Connect which is just inside the library outside Touchwood Shopping Centre. They have all the catchment area maps etc Also if you look on here http://www.solihull.gov.uk/schools/default.htm there is a document somewhere which lists the priorities each individual school has with regards to admissions.

Have you visited the schools? I would do that, rather than go on Ofsted reports

Exactly this. Our school "only" got good on their last OFSTED however I think it is a wonderful school and would not fail to recommend it to people.
Just give me a block, I'm gonna be fine..........

Same here ,ours is a small village school which gets hardly any help (its stuck in the 70's inside) yet the ones that get all the money thrown at them have the highest ratings (ETA this is in my area not sure about elsewhere) .Ive spent 3 days checking ofsted reports /comparing schools ,trying to choose a nursery ,it gave me brain ache!!

dont know if this will help ,I found it helpfull to compare schools side by side although for me its only the nursery as she will be going to the same school as mine (which doesnt have a nursery)

    Thank you all

Found info very useful and a couple of calls later and an hour on various sites I know exactly what is what and where we would stand with each house

Our preferred school has open day on Tuesday too

    Thanks
