Removing sticky glue from skin
Oscar got a sticker on Monday at nursery for good work and he stuck it to his chest 'to surprise me'

Of course with it being so warm it got really stuck. Even pulling it gently, I could see it would take the top layer of skin off. I soaked a cotton wool pad in water and left it on his chest to soak through and we managed to get a lot of it off. However there is still a grey circle of adhesive stuck to his chest and he says it's sore so won't let me near it with a flannel or anything like that.
I had a quick word with the school this morning asking them to discourage children sticking stickers on bare skin.
Does anyone know how I can get this glue off him without hurting him?xx Hermie xx

This is safe for skin and hair, though I appreciate you may not have it readily available.
You could try baby oil?

Re: Removing sticky glue from skin
I have used nail polish remover on my own skin before and it has worked, but I wouldn't recommend it on a child. Rubbing with baby or olive oil on a cotton ball may help.

Re: Removing sticky glue from skin
Baby oil/vegetable oil/olive oil/mineral oil are the best for this sort of thing.
Nail varnish remover or anything else is too harsh and may irritate already sore skin, so I wouldn't recommend that. You'd do more damage. If it isn't coming off and is getting sore the best thing is to just use emollient creams (E45/sudocrem/whatever you usually use on nappy rash etc.) to relieve the soreness until it works off by itself.

Did you get it off? I used baby oil to take off surgical glue residue from DS2's arm this evening and it works really well.

Re: Removing sticky glue from skin
Thanks for the tips. I have used some of my clarins cleanser which is a light gel which melts into an oil and then can be easily washed away. It has got rid of a lot but he started getting a little distressed again so I left it and will do a bit more tomorrow night.
I didn't have any baby oil and he rebelled against cooking oils
so I thought this was the next best thing. I might get some of that lakeland stuff though just to have in the house
