Can't shift that last stone -WWYD?
I am really struggling to get my head in the right place to diet properly at the moment. I lost 3 stone last year doing WW Online but am finding pointing really restrictive so have swapped to My Fitness Pal and am counting calories at the moment. I am a bit of a carb-addict so low-carbing isn't going to happen

I am maintaining my weight and losing the odd pound every couple of weeks but I need faster results to keep motivated, and as I am not motivated, I fall off the diet every weekend... which obviously means I don't lose weight.
I am running three times a week (ok, usually twice but aiming for three times) and have started doing a strength workout focusing on my problem areas twice a week - which I find harder than the running
WWYD? Do I try and accept that this is a weight I can maintain easily and focus on toning up, or do I make a real effort to get back on it. When I lost the weight last year I relaxed at weekends (with wine / dessert) but was good during the week but that approach has stopped working despite me doing much more exercise.Jedi Boy is 6, the Little Princess is 3....

Re: Can't shift that last stone -WWYD?
You have my sympathies, I have a stone to lose and try as I might, I cannot shift it. I started back at the gym 5 weeks after Jude was born, I started WW, then slimming world. I know where I am going wrong though....it's definitely weekend drinking - oh and we seem to have some party/birthday/meal/celebration to go to EVERY week and if I go out to eat I like to eat something I like!
The answer for me is to cut out alcohol completely and decline invitations - not much of a life though?!Mum to 2 beautiful girls

Re: Can't shift that last stone -WWYD?
That would probably work - got to have a life though
I have got three parties to go to in the next week (a boozy work Jubilee party, a friend's BBQ where I might have to drive and a family garden party where I won't drink too much) but it is a bit quieter socially after that which might help. I think it has to b sustainable though - and giving up wine isn't sustainable for me
Thanks for the sympathy

Re: Can't shift that last stone -WWYD?
Are you me?
Am sat here 12-13lbs above goal and too embarrassed to go back to the other thread. Weekends are hideous for me too, and wine is certainly an issue. My summer clothes (last years) are more than snug on me. I dunno what to suggest but you're not alone honey.
Oh, and exercise should be helping here too but the sheer number of miles I'm cycling atm means I need to eat more and am constantly ravenous. Have put the pressure of weight loss on hold til after my big ride and will re-address things then.

Re: Can't shift that last stone -WWYD?
I gave up on getting below 60kg a few years ago; then in November last year I signed up to an inch loss program with my local gym - it made complete sense to me, the nutritional advice was sensible/easy to follow; the gym sessions fantastic and I got down to 57kg (im maintaining at 58kg with no exercise at all ATM).
It feels like I've changed my body; built up my core muscle & changed my metabolism as a result. I feel a lot better for it and those 8wks really did kick start it all. So I'd contact your gym and see if they do similar.
Eta - I'd gone up to 63-64kg when instated the inch loss.Last edited by cheeky_biscuit; 29-05-2012 at 10:29pm.

Re: Can't shift that last stone -WWYD?
What do you class as the weekend? Sat/Sun or Fri/Sat/Sun? Either way it is a big percentage of the week. Fri/Sat/Sun is nearly half the week.
Can't you just eat more sensibly/drink less or something less calorific at the weekends? Personally I'd rather even it out a bit than have to be extra good mid week to compensate for the weekends excess. You can still eat out and track your cals on MYF. It isn't always100% accurate but you can guess the bits you have to.DS July 2003, DD1 January 2005, DD2 August 2008

Re: Can't shift that last stone -WWYD?
Friday after work (which just tends to be a couple of glasses of wine and a slightly more treat like dinner - this week is green chilli tacos, but we tend to have the kind of meal that won't fit into my calories in the week) to Sunday lunch if we go out to eat / Saturday night if not. I wouldn't say I have a massive binge -probably 2000 calories, which is supposed to be 'normal' - plus I always run at the weekend.
Will work on the muscle though - Can't afford gym membership at the moment but there is stuff I can do at home.
Mrs B - kind of glad it's not just me though.
Will just deal with this long weekend and then it will be 11 weeks until our holiday and I will have to motivate myself

Re: Can't shift that last stone -WWYD?
This is why it would probably work for you, and quickly
Worth a shot for a couple of weeks to see how you get on?
Re wine, I am a devil with white
but it really does make me put on weight. So because of the paleo thing I now drink red, and because I don't like it as much I drink less. With white I could just keep going and going.
