School cake sale in hot weather
We're having a Jubilee party at school on Friday. I said I'd make some cakes to sell along with tea and coffee for the parents.
Now the weather has turned so warm I'm not sure what to make. I'd planned to do a chocolate sponge but now thinking that might not be such a good idea.
I'd asked my Dad to to bake a Victoria Sandwich but am wondering if it is too hot for that now too.
I could do some jam biscuits that are kind of cakey but have been ok for picnics before. Just not sure what will sell if it is hot.DS July 2003, DD1 January 2005, DD2 August 2008

We had a 'Royal Rumble' on Saturday and some people handed in cakes made with cream on the Friday

They all had to be binned.

Not sure in terms of eating them, but over here (Australia) we school coffee mornings. People get the ice blocks (the plastic ones with liquid in that you freeze) and keep them on top of the container until ready to serve. And obviously keep them out of the sun. Does the trick.
